10 motorised wheelchairs donated to Sir John Golding Rehabilitation Centre
KINGSTON, Jamaica — The Western Shamrock Lodge, in partnership with Jiangsu Construction Group, officially handed over 10 motorised wheelchairs to the Athlone Wing of the Sir John Golding Rehabilitation Centre on Wednesday.
Minister of Health Dr Christopher Tufton commended the lodge and its partners for the initiative, stating, “This donation is quite timely in a number of ways. First of all, it symbolises partnership — between the lodge and you here, between Jiangsu Construction and their gift, and a partnership with Jamaica.”
He continued, “Humanity depends on partnerships. It also symbolises the strength of friendships, and out of friendship has come these long-standing partnerships. Everyone needs a friend at some point in time — they say no man is an island, no man stands alone.”
The 10 motorised wheelchairs will significantly enhance the centre’s capacity to serve patients with severe mobility challenges, providing them with greater independence, comfort and dignity in their daily lives.
The Western Shamrock Lodge has been making donations to the Athlone Wing for more than 20 years.
