NCU to resume classes on November 10 after Hurricane Melissa
MANCHESTER, Jamaica —The Northern Caribbean University (NCU) says classes are set to resume on Monday, November 10, following the passage of Hurricane Melissa.
NCU in a statement on Tuesday said it is mindful that many students are struggling to come to terms with the loss and damage caused by the hurricane and as such included measures to support students who are unable to resume classes.
“We’ve included measures to support students who are unable to join us due to lack of access to basic amenities like road networks and internet connection. If you’re one of them, please reach out to your faculty, chair, dean or regional campus coordinator as soon as possible to discuss options for learning, including flexible assessments for this semester,” NCU urged.
“As a student, if you are unable to contact us within this semester, we’ll facilitate your engagement in January 2026 to help you through the recovery process. Faculty will post course content and materials on the Moodle platform, so you can access them at your own pace,” the university continued.
NCU said the faculty will also post course content and materials on the Moodle platform. It also noted that it will be flexible with assignment submissions and other class activities.
