Bog Walk Gorge remains closed due to safety concerns
ST CATHERINE, Jamaica — The Bog Walk Gorge in St Catherine will remain closed to vehicular traffic as authorities work to clear utility poles that continue to obstruct the roadway.
The National Works Agency (NWA) said the corridor, which was initially expected to reopen on Thursday, cannot do so as the conditions still pose risks to motorists.
Manager of Communication and Customer Services at the NWA, Stephen Shaw, explained that a Jamaica Public Service Company pole remains down in the area. He said the power company has indicated that it will need approximately 48 more hours to resolve the issue.
According to Shaw, motorists would also face difficulties using Flat Bridge, as the traffic signals are currently not operational. He is urging drivers to continue using alternative routes until the area is deemed safe.
The NWA said it will issue an update once the obstacles have been removed and the roadway is ready for reopening.
