‘Tell us who’s overcharging’: National urges customers to report price gouging
Amid widespread reports of price gouging since Hurricane Melissa devastated sections of Jamaica, one prominent food manufacturer is taking a stand against the practice by urging customers to report any instances of overpricing by any of its representatives.
“As the country continues relief efforts following the passage of Hurricane Melissa, we want to assure you that there has been no price increases on any of our products,” the National Bakery advised in a social media post on Thursday.
The manufacturer, which produces a wide range of goods including breads, buns, crackers, and snacks, asked that “overcharging” by any of its representatives be reported immediately.
“Please record the truck number and or license plate and report it to us,” the company said.
It asked that the information be sent to the email address, customerrelations@natbake.com, its WhatsApp line at 876-927-7433, or call 876-927-7433.
“We want to remind everyone that during this period of rebuilding and recovery, fairness matters most,” the National Bakery said.
“We’re rebuilding, restoring, and standing together with fairness at the heart of all we do,” the company added.
