McConnell right on the spot
Fraser McConnell continued his winning ways as he topped the leader board at the Spot Valley Showdown, hosted by Montego Bay Racing Association at Spot Valley Raceway, St James, on Sunday, September 28.
McConnell stormed to the front of the field in his Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution IX from his very first run of the twisty gravel circuit and never let go of his lead.
From posting a 2:48:75 lap time, he whittled it down with each attempt to a 2:44:00, making it one of the fastest times ever to happen at Spot Valley Raceway.
His closest competitor was, as expected, the Subaru Impreza STI of Demar Lee. Lee did his best to stay close, but his fastest time of the day was roughly three seconds slower at 2:47:80.
Third, and the best of the front-wheel drive cars, was Jason King in his Toyota Corolla, which circulated in the three-minute range. However, his best time of 3:03:80 came at his first run. It was enough to stay ahead of fourth placed Jordon McDowell, another of two-wheel drive competitors, in this case a rear-wheel-driven BMW 318ti. McDowell ended the day with a fastest 3:19:92.
Rounding out the rest was Marcus McDowell and Tsana Wint.
Raynor King was unable to start the event due to mechanical issues.
