Planet Water Foundation and ISRATECH to deliver water filtration systems for Melissa relief
KINGSTON, Jamaica—ISRATECH Jamaica in collaboration with global non-profit Planet Water Foundation has announced the arrival of six state-of-the-art AquaBlock emergency water filtration systems to assist communities severely impacted by Hurricane Melissa.
The life-saving systems departed Phoenix, Arizona, and will arrive in Kingston, Jamaica aboard a Boeing 737 humanitarian relief flight, the largest single aid flight to land in Jamaica since the passage of Hurricane Melissa.
The six units can produce a maximum of 57,600 gallons of potable water per day which will be able to be accessed by the general public.
“In the wake of Hurricane Melissa, access to safe water remains one of the most urgent needs for recovery and resilience. Through our strategic partnership with Planet Water Foundation, ISRATECH is rapidly restoring this essential resource to affected communities. Each AquaBlock system represents both innovation and hope – engineered for swift deployment and sustained impact, supported by our team’s technical expertise on the ground,” said Benjamin Hodara, chief executive officer (CEO) of ISRATECH.
Six large packages of aquablocks arrived at the Norman Manley International Airport (NMIA) on Thursday on Boeing Flight 737
Mark Steele, founder and CEO, Planet Water Foundation, said: “It’s heartbreaking to witness the devastation caused by Hurricane Melissa. Each AquaBlock system we deploy can provide safe water for up to 6,000 people, and our team is fully focused on delivering these systems to the communities that need them most, as quickly as possible. We’re deeply grateful for the partnership of ISRATECH and the invaluable support of our corporate partners in making our response efforts possible.”
The AquaBlock systems are designed to deliver safe, clean drinking water to thousands of residents daily. This emergency response initiative is funded through the generous support of Planet Water Foundation’s corporate partners.
A technical team comprising Planet Water technicians from the United States of America (USA) and engineers from ISRATECH Jamaica will oversee the installation, commissioning, and maintenance of the systems in coordination with local disaster response agencies and Jamaican authorities.
The initial deployment will target high-impact areas identified by national disaster response teams, focusing on restoring access to potable water where infrastructure has been compromised.
