Powering up Jamaica’s recovery
The Belgian Government has shipped hundreds of generators to the island to power up Jamaica’s recovery from the devastation caused by Hurricane Melissa.
The generators were flown into the island on Wednesday through the European Union’s (EU) emergency response mechanism.
EU Ambassador to Jamaica Dr Erja Askola joined Minister of Finance Fayval Williams and Belgian Ambassador Ellen De Geest, at Norman Manley International Airport to receive the gift.
This forms part of Team Europe’s contribution to support the efforts of resilience and sustainable recovery in Jamaica in the aftermath of Melissa.
Several EU member states have so far provided invaluable relief supplies to Jamaica.
