Direct Relief donates medical supplies to Jamaica
Health supplies were delivered to Jamaica on Saturday by United States (US) charity Direct Relief as aid continues to enter the island following the passage of Hurricane Melissa.
Vice President of Operations for Direct Relief, Genevieve Bitter, explained that, “We support health systems all over the world, strengthen access to medical resources to improve lives. Jamaica’s people are in need right now, and we can help fill a gap through providing pharmaceuticals, medical supplies and help to build resilience.”
The cargo plane with the supplies landed on Saturday, carrying diabetes medication and supplies, health supplies, insect repellent, tents and more.
The donation follows the passage of Hurricane Melissa on October 28, which severely damaged parts of western Jamaica.
