Circuit Court sittings to resume across several parishes this month
KINGSTON, Jamaica – The Judiciary of Jamaica has announced the phased resumption of Circuit Court sittings across five parishes following Hurricane Melissa.
According to the Judiciary, Circuit Court matters for St. James, Trelawny, and St Catherine are scheduled to begin Monday, November 10. Proceedings for Westmoreland will start on Monday November 17, while St. Elizabeth will resume on Monday, November 24.
Due to extensive damage in Westmoreland, all Circuit Court sittings for that parish will be temporarily relocated to Hanover. In St James, hearings will be limited to Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays until further notice.
The Trelawny Circuit Court will operate from Duncans with sittings held Monday through Friday, while matters for St. Catherine will proceed in the Home Circuit Court in downtown Kingston, effective today.
Both the St. Elizabeth Circuit Court and the Parish Court will officially resume operations on November 24, 2025.
The Judiciary expressed appreciation to court users, attorneys, and the wider public for their patience as recovery efforts continue. The Court Administration Division is currently assessing infrastructural damage and will collaborate with the Ministry of Justice to expedite repairs.
Members of the public are urged to follow the Judiciary of Jamaica’s official social media channels for updates on scheduling changes and other important notices.
