Tyrese, Mona Scott arrive in Jamaica to jumpstart relief efforts
American actor and R&B vocalist, Tyrese Gibson has landed in Jamaica alongside business mogul and television producer Mona Scott-Young to hand out relief packages to victims in hurricane-ravaged parishes.
The actor and the entrepreneur shared videos to their individual social media pages as they flew into the island on Monday. Gibson and Scott-Young loaded several private jets with relief supplies, each professing their love for Jamaica as they vowed to stand in solidarity with its people.
“This is not a private jet just for the private jet of it all. This is a humanitarian mission,” said Scott-Young. “We’re out here. We were able to do what we could in a short time. Y’all know I’m empowered and so my thing will be providing power and I brought a lot of Starlink with me and I’m looking forward to you guys helping me to get as many Starlinks to Jamaica so people can speak to their families.”
Scott-Young also made sure to remind persons of Jamaica’s beauty even in times of hardships.
“It’s beautiful out here, as beautiful as I remember it. Y’all know I love Jamaica,” she said.
“Jamaica, we here baby,” said Gibson as he disembarked one of the jets. “We loading up. I’ve always wanted to do this. We know there’s a lot of trauma and we’re not only here to give but to give with all of this love attached.”
Gibson and Scott-Young are the latest international celebrities to join in relief efforts. Nicki Minaj, DJ Khaled, Walt Disney World and Rihanna via her Clara Lionel Foundation were also among the stars who lent their support.
