Jamaican-American decathlete leads Hurricane Melissa relief initiative in Burnt Savannah
ST ELIZABETH, Jamaica—Claston Bernard, a Jamaican-American decathlete and Commonwealth champion is leading an initiative in his native community of Burnt Savannah in St Elizabeth to provide relief support and rebuild in the aftermath of Hurricane Melissa.
Louisiana State University alum Bernard, who now lives in Louisiana and once ran for the office of consul general, is a son of Burnt Savannah.
On the weekend he collaborated with some US Navy veterans who have been helping to restore the community from the effects of Hurricane Mellisa.
Their efforts are set to continue until the end of November.
