Berger Paints providing well-needed water to hard-hit parishes
BERGER Paints Jamaica Limited (BPJL) has joined forces with the private sectors’ hurricane relief programme to provide essential water supplies to communities across central and western Jamaica affected by the passage of Hurricane Melissa.
As part of the initiative, Berger Paints is to supply 10,000 five-gallon buckets, which the collaborating private sector organisations and respective Government agencies, working alongside its water partner Tropical Blue in St Elizabeth, will fill with clean and safe drinking water.
The first phase of this effort has already begun, with two 40-foot containers loaded and sent for filling and immediate distribution to the most affected areas.
The full donation will represent the equivalent of approximately 400,000 bottles of 500 millilitre water, a significant contribution toward easing water shortages in the hardest-hit areas.
“At Berger Paints Jamaica, we believe in standing with our communities not only in times of growth but especially in moments of need,” said Dwaine Williams, general manager of Berger Paints Jamaica.
“This partnership reflects our commitment to national solidarity and our desire to make a meaningful difference in people’s lives,” added Williams.
He said Berger Paints Jamaica’s contribution marks only the beginning of its broader support efforts as Ansa McAL, its parent company, has been actively supporting the National Water Commission.
Through ANSA Chemicals Jamaica, it has ensured a consistent supply of chlorine for potable water production. Additionally, the company provided bulk and repackaged bleach for sanitation to more than 40 essential facilities and nearly 4,000 homes.
“Recovery doesn’t end with relief, it continues through rebuilding,” added Williams. “As communities begin to get back on their feet, Berger Paints Jamaica will continue to be here to help restore homes, schools, hotels, factories, offices and public spaces. We will be a critical partner in rebuilding Jamaica. Together, we will help Jamaica shine its colours brighter than ever,” declared Williams.
