Bert’s Auto Parts Foundation commits $20 million to Hurricane Melissa relief effort
KINGSTON, Jamaica — Bert’s Auto Parts Foundation has announced a $20 million contribution to support national relief and rebuilding efforts.
According to the company, the money will be directed toward critical initiatives, including roof repairs, building materials, and food packages for families severely affected, particularly in western Jamaica, where the storm’s impact has been most significant.
“Bert’s Auto was built by Jamaicans — our customers, our employees, our partners, and our communities,” said Bert Tomlinson Sr, founder and CEO of Bert’s Auto.
“Over the past 37 years, their trust and support have shaped our success. Today, as the nation rebuilds, we see it as our responsibility to stand in solidarity with the people who have stood with us,” added Tomlinson who emphasised that this donation is made on behalf of every customer who has helped build Bert’s over the years, reflecting the shared spirit that has always defined the company’s relationship with Jamaica.
“This gesture of goodwill is an act of solidarity. Jamaica’s strength has always been in its people. From neighbours helping neighbours to companies supporting communities, we are once again reminded that recovery is a shared mission. At Bert’s, we’re simply doing our part to help families get back on their feet; one roof, one meal, one home at a time,” said Tomlinson.
According to Tomlinson, Bert’s Auto Parts Foundation has a proven track record of supporting community resilience and disaster recovery. Following Hurricane Beryl in 2024, the company provided resources to assist in rebuilding homes and critical infrastructure in St Elizabeth.
He said this year’s contribution will expand on those efforts through partnerships with reputable local organizations to ensure effective distribution and measurable impact.
“Our business has always been about more than parts; it’s about people and in this moment, as Jamaica rebuilds, we want to remind everyone that we are in this together,” added Tomlinson.
