Cabbie wanted in killing of teacher and daughter found dead in suspected suicide
CLARENDON, Jamaica — Brandon Maine, the taxi operator who police on Thursday named as a person of interest in the murder of a St Catherine teacher and her teen daughter, is suspected to have committed suicide in Tweedside, Clarendon on Friday afternoon, sources say.
Preliminary reports are that about 1:00 pm, Maine was found hanging from a mango tree in a yard in Tweedside. Sources say he reportedly fled to the area on Wednesday.
A day later the bodies of 29-year-old Tara Pinnock, who worked at a St Catherine-based primary school, and 14-year-old Tally Wright were discovered at a premises in Mount View, near St Jago Heights in St Catherine.
According to Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP), Hopton Nicholson, officers were alerted to suspicious activities on a Mount View premises sometime after 1:00 pm and upon entering, their bodies were discovered.
Nicholson said both victims were found with what appeared to be stab wounds all over the body.
He explained that early findings suggest the perpetrator(s) had access to the home.
“Preliminary investigations have not revealed any forced entry,” he said, adding that detectives will be conducting a thorough investigation.
