Business House Domino tournament set to return with new twist
THE 2026 National Association of Domino Bodies (NADB) Kingston and St Andrew Region Business House Domino Tournament is gearing up for a thrilling return and Humbert Davis, the tournament’s organiser, is excited about the competition that’s about to unfold.
With growing fear back in 2020 related to the spread of COVID-19, organisers had been forced to cancel the tournament.
The NADB Business House League has been a staple of Jamaican sporting culture, promoting unity, teamwork, and healthy competition among employers and employees. The tournament has a rich history and is expected to bring workplace camaraderie with it.
“The response when we first announced that we are bringing back the tournament has been overwhelming,” Davis told the Jamaica Observer.
“We’re thrilled to bring back the Business House Domino Tournament, and we’re expecting a fierce competition from the companies. The structure may be different but the rules and regulations remain the same, and we’re confident that the teams will rise to the challenge,” Davis, the president of NADB, further said.
According to Davis, the first 16 teams to register will secure a spot in the 10-week tournament, and registration is set to open in early December.
“The format may have changed due to us just returning, but the passion and skills of our teams remain the same,” he explained. “We’re splitting the teams into two groups of eight, and they’ll play each other once. The top four from each group will contest the quarter-finals and then we move on to the semi-finals and the grand finale — and it’s going to be a thrilling ride,” he stated.
Matches will be played at selected venues, and the tournament is set to begin early next year.
“We’re excited to see the teams in action. The Business House Domino Tournament is a beloved tradition, and we’re proud to bring it back. We’re expecting a fantastic tournament, and we’re looking forward to crowning a new champion,” he said.
