Curaçao Football Federation donates gear to Jamaican children affected by Melissa
KINGSTON, Jamaica— In an expression of solidarity with Jamaicans amid the devastation caused by Hurricane Melissa in the island, the Curaçao Football Federation is donating football gear to children in the storm-ravaged western section of the country.
” As the Curaçao Football Federation, we wish to show our solidarity and compassion with the children and residents of the affected western region. We have therefore reached out to the Dutch Ambassador and the Jamaican Football Federation. For the children, we would like to provide footballs, shirts, and cones. Since we are unable to travel to the West ourselves, this solution has been chosen,” the federation said in a statement.

Six children from the western region were presented with the items from the Curacao national side.
“We are grateful that we can do this. We are here in Jamaica not only for the World Cup qualification game next Tuesday but also to show our compassion,” the team continued.
The Curacao national team will face Jamaica’s Reggae Boyz on Tuesday needing only a draw to qualify for the World Cup for the first time in its history.
