House Speaker delivers hurricane relief supplies to residents of hard-hit communities
KINGSTON, Jamaica—Residents of several communities in St Elizabeth and Westmoreland were the recent beneficiaries of Hurricane Melissa relief supplies courtesy of Speaker of the House of Representatives, Juliet Holness, and her Save Our Boys and Girls Foundation.
Holness, the Member of Parliament for St Andrew East Rural, made the trek into the hard-hit parishes on Saturday to join efforts to take relief to people most in need.
“Yesterday I spent the entire day on the road across St Elizabeth and Westmoreland, delivering essential supplies to families affected by Hurricane Melissa with the Save Our Boys and Girls Foundation team,” Holness said in a social media post on Sunday.

Residents were given items including drinking water, ice, food packages, clothing, shoes, tarpaulin, and hygiene kits.
Holness said the move was made as part of an effort by her foundation to ensure that those hit hardest received immediate support and care.
“Seeing the gratitude and resilience of these communities reminds us why our mission matters. A huge thank you to our incredible partners who made this possible and those who came to assist with distribution. Your generosity and commitment continue to change lives. Together, we’re rebuilding stronger communities and shaping the innovative leaders of tomorrow,” added Holness.

She started the Save Our Boys and Girls Foundation in 2019 to address the needs of marginalised young people and offer them opportunities for growth and empowerment.
According to Holness, her vision is to create a brighter, more inclusive future where every child has the resources and support to thrive and contribute to a better Jamaica.
