WATCH: Sport minister confident in Reggae Boyz ahead of World Cup qualifier
KINGSTON, Jamaica — Sport Minister Olivia Grange is expressing confidence in the Reggae Boyz ahead of what could be one of the most important days in Jamaica’s sports history.
At 8:00 pm on Tuesday, the Boyz will take on Curacao at the National Stadium in Kingston in a match that will determine whether they are among the automatic qualifiers for the World Cup.
In a video address on Monday, Grange said, “Twenty-eight years ago, on November 16, Jamaica’s men’s team qualified for the FIFA World Cup. They can create history and do it again tomorrow by beating Curaçao.”
“I’m absolutely confident that our Reggae Boyz can do it — they’ve got the talent, they’re motivated, they have the heart of champions, and they want to make Jamaica proud. Come on Jamaica, let’s get behind our Boyz,” Grange said.
The minister is encouraging Jamaicans to turn out in numbers in gold and yellow, and to give their full support to the Boyz.
“The nation is wishing you the best of luck Reggae Boyz. You got this! And we will always give you our full support. Go for it. We know you can do it!” Grange said.
