Medera returns to Digicel
KINGSTON, Jamaica — Former Caribbean Airlines boss Garvin Medera has returned to Digicel, where he now assumes the role of CEO for the Atlantic Region within the telecoms group.
Regarded as a respected Caribbean leader, Medera’s return to the Digicel Group marks a homecoming for the company where he began his early career — playing an instrumental role in pioneering the development of Digicel’s telecom and fibre networks across the region.
During his tenure as chairman of the Digicel Foundation in Trinidad and Tobago, he also made meaningful contributions to community connectivity. In that role, he supported initiatives focused on education, inclusion, and opportunity — reinforcing his belief that connection should reach people not only through technology, but also through service.
In a statement this week, Digicel said Medera’s return forms part of a strategic push to strengthen its leadership bench as it positions itself for a future centred on service, reliability, and deeper customer connection.
“Garvin’s return to Digicel is both a professional reunion and a powerful signal of our future. He understands our mission at its core, connecting communities through service, trust, and reliability. As Digicel continues to transform, his blend of regional insight and global leadership will help us accelerate our next chapter with clarity and ambition,” group CEO of Digicel, Marcelo Cataldo, said.
“At Digicel, our transformation is driven by leaders who combine regional depth with world-class execution. Garvin reflects that balance. Having started his career with us, he now returns with a wealth of experience to strengthen teams, elevate performance, and build the next generation of leadership across the Atlantic region,” added Terry Arnold, chief people officer at Digicel.
Drawing on the expertise gained from his previous role leading Caribbean Airlines, Digicel, which now delivers modern wireless and fibre networks across 25 markets in the Caribbean, Central and South America while serving nine million customers — Arnold said Medera’s success in steering a complex transformation at the airline makes him well aligned with the telco’s ongoing mission. That transformation included operational profitability, digital modernisation, and a renewed customer focus.
“His leadership balanced performance with purpose, a philosophy that aligns seamlessly with Digicel’s ambition to elevate customer experience across every market we serve,” the company noted.
Following his sudden resignation from Caribbean Airlines a few weeks ago after nearly eight years at the helm, Medera said he is ready for the next chapter.
“Returning to Digicel feels both meaningful and motivating. This is where I first learned the true weight of connecting people, not just through technology, but through service. I look forward to working with this exceptional team to shape the next era of connectivity for our customers and communities,” he said.
