Nelson rides Computer Hacker to first Woodbine win
DANE Nelson, a four-time Jamaican champion jockey, rode his first winner at Woodbine Racetrack in Toronto, Canada, aboard Computer Hacker on Friday, November 14, 2025. The win came in the third race, a CAN$26,200 Claiming (CAN$5,000-CAN$4,500) event over seven furlongs.
Four-year-old bay gelding Computer Hacker, conditioned by Kerron Palmer, took the top spot by a length and a half, finishing with a time of 1:25.0 (23.2 x 47.0 x 1:12.0).
Nelson expressed his gratitude to his team and supporters.
“It’s is a really good feeling winning a race here,” Nelson said.
“The experience and the exposure are great and I am really happy. Thanks to the connections and the support from everyone,” he added.
Computer Hacker (9-2) broke well and took the lead early, moving to the front outside the chute. He stretched out his lead at the halfway point and continued to pull away on the final turn. Nelson kept a steady hand, and Computer Hacker responded when called upon, pulling clear for a comfortable win.
Sparklet, the 6-5 favourite under Xarel Forde, finished second ahead of The New Maybe (Austin Adams) in third place.
