A Perfectly Charted Course

A mutual passion for the environment didn’t just transform the lives of Demesha Ross and Camilo Trench — it propelled them to romance, eventually tying the knot on April 26, 2025, at Jaz View Villas in St Ann.

The two met in 2017 at The University of the West Indies, Mona, where they remained casual acquaintances. However, their story truly began with a single presentation on mangroves that unexpectedly piqued Demesha’s interest. “He was so passionate about them, he had my full attention. I remember thinking, this guy is a ‘live life fully’ kind of guy,” Demesha told Tuesday Style Vows (TSV).

Post-graduation, their lives intersected professionally at the Discovery Bay Marine Laboratory. Working side-by-side, their collaboration quickly fostered a deep friendship, charged with undeniable chemistry. Despite the obvious connection, both Demesha and Camilo remained cautious, reluctant to risk their close bond. The turning point came when Demesha returned from a trip to Colombia. The distance had given Camilo the clarity he needed, and he immediately asked Demesha to take the leap into romance.

“It felt so natural, we couldn’t stay away. We went to dinner and he asked for us to give our relationship a shot and be official. He showed affection towards me that was similar to how my grandfather loved my grandma and I was all-in,” Demesha said. “It was a breath of fresh air to have someone who not only kept their word, but often acted without needing to be asked,” Demesha said.

Camilo and Demesha were engaged on Christmas Day 2023 at his mother’s home, making the special moment bittersweet, as she had passed away months before.

“It was significant for me because I talked about it with my mum the year before she passed. She was absolutely relieved and overjoyed with us finding each other as we seemed truly compatible and a good fit,” Camilo shared.

The couple celebrated their dream wedding two years later, featuring décor expertly organised by LiLeslie’s Bliss Décor. Escorted by her mum, Julian Walters, Demesha walked up the aisle in a custom Essence of Australia dress from Exquisite Bridal and Designs, to Kina Grannis’ cover of Elvis Presley’s
Can’t Help Falling in Love. Rev Karen Kirlew officiated the ceremony.

The celebrations continued at the reception where Bluez Fusion Cuisine provided catering. Following dinner, the celebration moved to traditional formalities, including toasts and the cutting of a two-tiered triple vanilla and strawberry confection by Ole Mack’s Panaderia. The newly-weds later opened the dance floor to Mortimer’s Lightning. They honeymooned at the Couples Tower Isle resort in St Mary.
