Dunbeholden FC brings hope to Russia, Westmoreland
KINGSTON, Jamaica — The Dunbeholden Football Club joined in relief efforts to help those affected in the western region of the island on Sunday.
Members of the club travelled to Russia, Westmoreland, where they brought essential relief items to residents still grappling with the storm’s aftermath. The team distributed food packages, water, clothing, shoes and tarpaulins.
They also pledged to adopt the community in partnership with local business leaders. Plans are already in motion to deliver building supplies and doors within the next two weeks, helping families begin rebuilding their homes and restoring a sense of stability.
The team is also exploring the idea of hosting a Christmas dinner to bring warmth, joy and togetherness during the holiday season.
Commenting on the team’s mission, Vice President of Dunbeholden Football Club, Vivian Matthews, said, “For us, this is more than charity. It is a calling. When we visited the community and saw the devastation first-hand, we knew we had a responsibility to do more. Football teaches us about teamwork, resilience and heart. Now we are bringing those same values off the field to stand with families who need support, hope and a fresh start. This is the beginning of a long partnership built on trust and love.”
Meanwhile, Chief Commercial Officer Aubyn Henry added a heartfelt reflection on the club’s broader purpose.
“Our commitment goes beyond the game and beyond the scoreboard. It is about recognising our influence and using it to uplift people whose lives have been turned upside down. We want the communities we serve to know that they are not forgotten and that Dunbeholden is here for the long haul. True leadership is about stepping up when it matters most and using every resource, every connection and every bit of heart we have to create real and lasting change,” Henry said.
