ROJ relief efforts continue with care packages for affected staff members
KINGSTON, Jamaica — Restaurants of Jamaica (ROJ), operator of KFC and Pizza Hut, has continued its relief efforts with additional support for team members and others who were severely affected by Hurricane Melissa.
Since the start of its recovery initiatives, ROJ has been donating more than 2,000 meals daily to communities in need.
While teams have been working to provide meals to hard-hit communities, many ROJ team members were also among those suffering from damage to their homes and loss of personal belongings due to the storm.
In response, the ROJ team rallied to support those in affected communities, many of whom are their own colleagues, preparing several hundred personal care packages containing two weeks’ supply of food, hygiene items and other essentials.
While many ROJ team members have been negatively impacted by the hurricane, those restaurant teams in several affected areas have continued to report for work, preparing meals and assisting with relief efforts despite personal hardship.
For many whose communities have been hit hard, care packages are being delivered directly to provide support as they work to rebuild.
According to ROJ, the initiative reflects a commitment to stand with those impacted communities and with every member of the ROJ team, to assist with the recovery efforts.
“The devastation caused by Hurricane Melissa has rallied all our efforts, but what has moved us most is the commitment of our team. Even those rebuilding their own lives have shown up to support others. Their strength, compassion and willingness to serve have been extraordinary. As we continue helping those impacted communities recover, we want our affected team members to feel that same level of support from us. We look out for Jamaica, and we look out for each other,” said ROJ Managing Director Mark Myers.
“This storm has tested the country in ways we have never seen, but the strength of our people continues to shine. We will keep showing up for our staff, our communities and our country. Jamaica will rebuild, and we will rebuild together,” Myers added.
He also expressed appreciation to ROJ partners and suppliers whose donations went towards building the much-needed care packages, including Jamaica Broilers, Pepsi Jamaica, GraceKennedy, Facey Commodity, and Lasco.
In a show of strength, the ROJ team worked together to pack care packages for those impacted by the Hurricane.
