Traz Di Jennik releases latest single
KINGSTON, Jamaica — The season to be jolly is approaching and Traz Di Jennik hopes party fans will jam to Party Hot Girlz, his latest song. Released in early November, the singer co-produced it with Trevor “Skatta Lopa” Bonnick and Lydia Campbell.
While Christmas is in the air, Traz Di Jennik did not have the season in mind when he wrote and recorded the song.
“I was thinking about some girls partying all night and came up with the intro and punchline,” he told the Observer Online.
He pitched the concept to Bonnick, best known as lead singer of The Bloodfire Posse and Inner Circle. The two have a professional relationship going back to the early 1990s when they were members of Main Street Records.
That camp, led by producer/musician Danny Browne also included Red Rat, General Degree, Buccaneer and Junior Tucker.
Most of the songs from Main Street Records had a party vibe which Traz Di Jennik wanted to emulate.
“I absolutely know that the need for more of this type of music will bring back the fun to dancehall,” he said.
Early in his career, Traz Di Jennik was known as Alcatraz. Over the years, he has recorded songs for top producers including Steely and Clevie and Penthouse Records.
Since a change in moniker three years ago, he renewed ties with Bonnick who has produced several of his songs including Party Nice, a soca track released in 2023.
