Andrew ‘French’ Wright gets more than 10 years for InSports fraud

KINGSTON, Jamaica — Andrew Wright, one of three men found guilty of defrauding the Institute of Sport (InSports) of hundreds of millions of dollars, has been sentenced to 10 years and seven months in prison at hard labour.

Wright was sentenced at the Supreme Court on Friday after a guilty verdict was handed down to him and his co-accused, O’Neil Hope and Rudolph Barnes, on September 30.

The men were charged following an investigation dating back to 2017, which found $222 million to have been defrauded from the governmental agency.
