From trainee to trailblazer
Kerry-Ann rises to become Sandals Ochi’s new assistant bar manager
HARD work, faith and education are paying off for Kerry-Ann Archie-Banton who recently earned a Diploma in Hospitality Leadership through the Sandals Corporate University (SCU), and Florida International University (FIU).
Archie-Banton has also recently received a well-deserved promotion at Sandals Ochi. She is now an assistant bar manager, a testimony to her remarkable eight-year journey of dedication and professional growth.
She began her career in 2016 as a trainee in the Hospitality Training Programme (HTP), eager to learn and contribute in any way she could.
Her willingness to assist in various departments, especially the restaurants during busy times, quickly made her a valued team member. Over the years, she advanced from bartender to bar supervisor and now in her latest role.
Archie-Banton’s recent academic success was made possible through the Sandals Corporate University’s prestigious scholarship programme.
“From trainee to assistant bar manager, I’m grateful for the journey and the opportunities that have shaped me. The experience and support I’ve received have been invaluable. This SCU/FIU scholarship programme has been a game-changer, allowing me to pursue my studies while growing in my role.
“I am excited to continue shining in my position and contribute to the team’s success. This promotion inspires me to keep learning and continue to give back to our guests and team,” declared Archie-Banton.
Her manager, Francine Bryden, praised Archie-Banton for her professionalism and positive influence and declared that, “Kerry-Ann leads with integrity, energy and compassion — an example to all. Her dedication, passion, and leadership skills will undoubtedly take her far.”
The resort’s General Manager Carol Bourke added, “Kerry-Ann’s journey reflects our belief in empowering our team members to reach their full potential, and her success is a testament to her hard work and perseverance. We couldn’t be prouder.”
Archie-Banton has a simple message for her colleagues, “Success isn’t about achieving your goals, but about the person you become along the way. Stay humble, stay curious, and keep growing — that’s the greatest achievement of all.”
She is looking to continuing her development, and has set the goal of advancing to bar manager.
