Miss Jamaica Universe to remain in ICU, says family
KINGSTON, Jamaica — Dr Gabrielle Henry, Jamaica’s representative at the 2025 Miss Universe international pageant, remains in intensive care unit (ICU) a week after falling from the stage while competing in the evening gown preliminary competition.
According to the latest official update, medical personnel have advised that Henry will be required to stay in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) for a minimum of seven days as doctors maintain close monitoring and provide specialised care.
Her sister, Dr Phylicia Henry-Samuels currently in Thailand alongside their mother, Maureen Henry shared the most recent developments with the organisation.
“Gabby isn’t doing as well as we would have hoped, but the hospital continues to treat her accordingly,” Dr Henry-Samuels said.
In a statement, the Miss Universe Jamaica Organisation expressed deep concern and renewed its appeal for nationwide and international support. The organisation is “earnestly calling on Jamaicans at home and across the Diaspora to continue keeping Gabrielle in their prayers.” They further encouraged friends, supporters, and well-wishers around the world to join in lifting her “in love, strength, and hope.”
The organisation also made a respectful plea to the public and social media users to avoid sharing negative comments, misinformation, or speculation that could cause additional distress to the family.
“Our primary focus remains on Gabrielle’s recovery and the well-being of her loved ones,” the statement read. They requested continued “compassion, sensitivity, and privacy” as the family navigates this difficult period.
Dr Henry suffered a serious head injury after falling from the stage during the competition, prompting her withdrawal and immediate medical intervention.
