Bulletproofcoffee, Major Danger top contenders for $1.25-m Racehorse Aftercare Trophy
BULLETPROOFCOFFEE and Major Danger looked the top picks for their divisions of the $1.25-million Racehorse Aftercare Trophy at Caymanas Park. Both are American-bred horses with the kind of running style that fits the short, five-furlong (1,000m) straight sprint perfectly.
Bulletproofcoffee, trained by Owen Sharpe, will face eight runners in Division One of the Overnight Allowance contest for three-year-olds and upward. The five-year-old bay mare has shown strong form on fast tracks, known for quick bursts off the gate and a solid finish.
Major Danger, trained by Anthony “Baba” Nunes, will line up against nine runners in Division Two. He is a consistent performer with a calm demeanour and a powerful closing kick, making him a reliable threat on straight tracks.
Both horses have favourable matchups and should be the ones to beat today.
Division One is positioned as the ninth event on the card with a post time of 4:20 pm, while Division Two is positioned as the 10th and final event with a post time of 5:00 pm. First race is scheduled for 11:30 am.
Bulletproofcoffee (He Be Fire N Ice – Plan A Surprise) came in second by two lengths behind Get A Pepsi at this distance with a 58.3 time on October 19. What’s more interesting is that all of her four career wins have come over this distance and with times of 1:00.0, 59.1, 58.0, and 58.2.
Bulletproofcoffee is expected to lead the field but she’ll face tough competition from Jason DaCosta’s duo of Chocomo (USA) and Teflon Don, plus Unruly Mo (USA) and Norblar who are also expected to play big roles.
Chocomo has been dismal in his last three runs. He goes well over the straight, and from this convenient mark he should run a much-improved race and challenge for top honours.
His stablemate Teflon Don had made noticeable progress when finishing third by four lengths behind Dothraki and Digital One over five and a half furlongs (1,100m). Based on that effort, Teflon Don is expected to make a brave run here.
Unruly Mo offered nothing in the recent Port Royal Sprint over six furlongs during which he finished last of eight runners. Down in class here, Unruly Mo is expected to run a better race.
Norblar, while finishing down the track in his two runs at this level, has worked really well coming into this race. He galloped five furlongs in 59.3, with four furlongs done in 46.3 out of the straight on Saturday, November 15. While Norblar is not expected to win, he should really make his presence felt.
Meanwhile, Major Danger (Majestic City – Clean Eleven) has not won a race this season from seven starts but he looks well-primed to get off the mark. He has been training well coming into this race, and with the blinkers on he is expected to get up in time for the win.
Florindia (USA), Champion Bubbler (USA), and Prince Amaan should be his main threats here.
Florindia is a capable sort who has one win from five starts on local soil so far. Florindia has worked well coming into this race and is expected to run accordingly, especially with the tongue tie and figure 8 on.
Champion Bubbler scored a hat-trick of wins over this distance back in March, which makes her a strong contender here. She steps down to compete here and could resume winning ways.
Prince Amaan also goes well over this distance. Prince Amman’s speed and agility also make him a top contender here.
