Tracks & Records conducting damage assessment following fire at MoBay location
KINGSTON, Jamaica — The management of Usain Bolt’s Tracks & Records restaurant says it is now conducting a comprehensive damage assessment at its Montego Bay location following an early morning fire on Saturday.
The company, in a media release, said the site has been without electricity since the passage of Hurricane Melissa and has been using generator power to support World Central Kitchen, which has been utilising its facilities to prepare meals daily for storm-affected communities.
“At approximately 1:47 am, members of the meal-preparation team arrived on-site and discovered the fire. The Jamaica Fire Brigade (JFB) was contacted immediately. Upon their arrival, the upper level of the building was already engulfed, but the fire has since been fully contained,” the company said.
The restaurant had not yet reopened to the public.
Tracks & Records said the JFB continues its formal investigation into the cause of the incident.
“Our focus at this time is on ensuring safety, stabilising operations where feasible, particularly in support of World Central Kitchen’s meal-preparation efforts, and continuing to contribute to the wider recovery efforts across the country,” the company added.
