Orville Sutherland’s Liberty album arrives Nov 28
AWARD-WINNING gospel recording artiste Prince Saj and Rian Davis are the collaborators on Liberty, the début album by gospel artiste Orville Sutherland.
The 12-track Liberty is scheduled for release on November 28 via Christ Driven Productions.
In an interview with the Jamaica Observer on Friday, Sutherland shared details about the project, which has been long in the making.
“This album took close to two years to complete. The title is inspired by my love for one of the songs, which is the title track Liberty. It’s the freedom I got from giving my life to Christ and all the content that came with it. I wanted to dub the album Liberty,” Sutherland explained.
Liberty was produced by Lamar Thompson of Christ Driven Productions. Among the musicians featured are Traig Taylor on keyboard and the Breaking Barriers Band.
Tracks featured on Liberty include Shine Mi Light, Cool Shade, Calvary, Ten a Dem, Jehovah, and
Judgement Drums.
Prince Saj is featured on Big God, while Rian Davis collaborates on Song of the Redeemed.
“This album is a mixture of reggae, steady vibe, and old-fashion gospel vibes. This was strategically done to accommodate a diversity of listeners,” Sutherland disclosed.
His EP Sweet Feeling was released in 2020. The following year, it won the EP of the Year award at the Sterling Gospel Music Awards.
The Clarendon-based Sutherland was the first runner-up in the 2016 Jamaica Cultural Development Commission (JCDC) Jamaica Gospel Song competition.
