Taxi driver accused of selling woman’s car for $50,000 and pocketing money
PORTLAND, Jamaica — A Portland taxi operator has been charged with larceny and fraudulent conversion after allegedly selling a woman’s vehicle and failing to hand over the proceeds from the transaction.
He is 64-year-old Nollis Lindsay, otherwise known as “Baldhead” of Richmond Hill in Portland.
The charges stem from a business arrangement between him and the vehicle’s owner, spanning April 2023 to October 2025.
According to police reports, the woman employed Lindsay as a taxi operator in 2023. The vehicle reportedly sustained damage in April of that year, and the woman later provided him with the documents then instructed him to sell it.
After several enquiries, Lindsay allegedly told her he had sold the vehicle for $50,000 but claimed he had been unable to reach her afterwards. He also reportedly told her that he would hand over the sum after he received a partner draw in October 2025.
The woman reported the matter to the police after she did not receive the funds as promised, and an investigation was launched.
Lindsay later surrendered to authorities in the presence of his attorney. He was charged on Saturday, November 22, following a question-and-answer session.
He is scheduled to appear in the Portland Parish Court on Tuesday, January 13, 2026.
