Starraura returns in style: 11-length romp wins $1.05-m Maiden Condition Race
THE Jason DaCosta-conditioned chestnut filly Starraura made a triumphant return to racing after an eight-month break, dominating the $1.05-million Maiden Condition Race for native-bred three-year-old fillies on Saturday, November 22, 2025.
Ridden by Robert “Hardball” Halledeen, Starraura (Bold Conquest – Little Wasp) surged to an ever-winding 11-length victory over 5½ furlongs (1,100m). She clocked 1:10.0 (splits 24.0 x 49.0 x 1:02.3).
Starraura broke off well at the start of the race, settling into third behind Money Mission (Javaniel Patterson) and Moonlight Song (Teneca Wolfe) going into the half-mile (800m) turn. Starraura joined Money Mission on the lead approaching the distance and then took the lead at the top of the straight full of running. She then rolled home comfortably ahead of Money Mission and BadBadTanesha (Richie Shakes).
