Miguel Coley agrees to join Reggae Boyz coaching staff

Former Reggae Boyz Assistant Coach Miguel Coley has officially agreed to return to the role on an interim basis, following the finalisation of a deal with the Jamaica Football Federation on Wednesday.

Coley will rejoin the national setup alongside interim Head Coach Rudolph Speid, forming part of the technical team for Jamaica’s campaign at the FIFA Inter-Confederation Playoffs in March 2026, where the Reggae Boyz will compete for a spot at the FIFA World Cup.

The 43-year-old, who will commence his duties next month, returns with extensive international experience. He was identified as the JFF’s top candidate for the assistant head coach position when Speid’s appointment was announced on November 21 and after several days of negotiations, both parties reached an agreement for his return.

A Pro Licence holder, Coley, who is widely regarded for his tactical acumen, has been developing his craft in the Middle East and has spent the last four seasons with Qatar Stars League outfit Umm Salal, where he is currently the head coach of the reserve team.

Coley first rose to national prominence with Jamaica College, where he led the school to five Manning Cup titles. His success earned him a call-up to the senior men’s national programme as assistant coach under former Reggae Boyz Head Coach Winfried Schafer, with the two later teaming up at Iranian club Esteghlel.

In 2019, Coley was appointed as Assistant Coach at Emirati team Baniyas and two years later he was appointed in the same role at Qatar’s Al-Khor.

Coley is expected to be the first of several additions to Speid’s technical staff, as the JFF continues shaping the coaching unit that will guide Jamaica in its final push for World Cup qualification.
