DESERT OF MALIBU VS OF A REVOLUTION

...American-bred runners clash in highly competitive US$100,000 Bruceontheloose Sprint

While the Mouttet Mile (invitational) takes centre stage on tomorrow’s programme, attention should be placed on the US$100,000 Bruceontheloose Sprint Trophy where the talented Desert of Malibu faces the highly rated Of a Revolution. The Graded Stakes contest for three-year-olds and upward will run over 6 ½ furlongs (1,300m).

The Jamaica Observer’s The Supreme Racing Guide takes a close look at each runner and their chances of winning.

1. CALIFORNIA CROWN: (4 ch c by Hedge Fund – Dream Big) – A winner on last who is not expected to repeat.

2. DESERT OF MALIBU (USA): (6 ch m by Malibu Moon – Lady Digger) – Caught close to home by Rideallday in the Port Royal Sprint (6 furlongs/1,200m) on November 16. Desert of Malibu has the talent and class to rebound with a win here. She has been training well, and with Dane Nelson in the irons, her chances of winning are second to none.

3. WALL STREET TRADER (USA): (6 dk b/br g by Vancouver – Selva) – Back after 119-day break and is expected to make impact.

4. GET A PEPSI: (6 ch h by Blue Pepsi Lodge – Getupstandup) – Out of contention.

5. SUPREMASI: (4 b c by Savoy Stomp – Beware Baby) – Consistent runner who should continue to run well.

6. INTRESTNTIMESAHEAD: (4 b c by Bold Conquest – My Friend Lucy) – Nothing interesting.

7. MAMMA MIA: (5 ch m by Soul Warrior – Princess Geeta) – Should do her running in the early part of the race before giving way when the pressure turns on.

8. FLORINDIA (USA): (4 dk b/br f by Gone Astray – Flaring) – Won’t be a factor.

9. MONEY MARKET: (5 b h by Successful Native – Soca Dancer) – Ran a very brave race to finish fourth in the Port Royal Sprint. Money Market is expected to run an honest race in this one.

10. MIGHTY GULLY: (3 b f by Buzz Nightmare – Lady Exotic) – Has improved a lot. Mighty Gully comes into this race on the backend of two consecutive wins, her winning steak stops here.

11. IS THAT A FACT (USA): (5 b h by Palace Malice – Valid Code) – His usually honest effort is expected.

12. OF A REVOLUTION (USA): (6 ch h by MacLean’s Music – Hot Spell) – Makes his local debut here. Of a Revolution comes here with a racing record on four wins, four seconds, and one third from 18 starts in the United States. He has been blazing up the exercise track and could win the first time of asking.
