Herbert Morrison crush Muschett 108 – 2 in ISSA basketball
MONTEGO BAY, St James — Former champions Herbert Morrison Technical recorded a lopsided 108-2 win over Muschett High at the school’s compound on Thursday for back-to-back victories in the Under-16 section of the ISSA Rural Area Zone A basketball competition.
They were coming off a 94-30 win over York Castle High last week.
Two players, Shemar Russell and Michael Johnson, both scored 22 points to lead Herbert Morrison as four players scored in double digits.
Herbert Morrison led 22-0 after the first quarter and were up 45-2 at the half time break before scoring 63 unanswered points in the second half.
Russell had a triple double as he also had 12 rebounds and 14 steals, Antonio Kerr scored 14 points and had six rebounds and Tyler Linton scored 10 points and had 11 steals.
The Under-19 team’s game against Ocho Rios High was called off due to rain with the home team leading 37-5 with just over five minutes to go to halftime.
Joshua Ferguson scored 15 points, all on three point shots for Herbert Morrison.
On Wednesday, Munro College beat Christiana High in both sections in Zone B while York Castle High beat Ocho Rios High 66-49 in the Under-19 section in Zone A.
Sheldon Forrester scored 19 points for Munro College’s Under-16 team in their 33-17 win where they led 7-4 after the first quarter and trailed 8-11 at halftime.
A big third quarter performance where they outscored Christiana High 11-6, however, saw them retake the lead and go on to win.
Munro had to come from behind twice to earn a 33-26 win in the Under 19 game; Christiana High led 8-7 after the first quarter but Munro College were ahead 15-12 at halftime and were tied at 18-all going into the fourth quarter.
Keneil Moodie led Munro College with 17 points while Rasheed Reid scored 12 for Christiana High.
In the St Ann derby, Christian Andorn scored 36 points and Chadrick McFarlane scored 23 for York Castle in their 66-49 come from behind win.
Ocho Rios led 12-8 after the first quarter but York Castle rallied to take the lead 23-19 at halftime and continued to add to their lead as they cruised to a win.
