Hundreds treated as Chinese hospital ship draws crowds in MoBay
ST JAMES, Jamaica — The Chinese hospital ship, Silk Road Ark, continued to attract large numbers of Jamaicans seeking medical care as it entered day three of operations in Montego Bay, St James with hundreds lining up for services.
According to updates shared by the Chinese Embassy in Jamaica via X, the medical team aboard the vessel treated 771 patients and completed 177 surgeries in a single day.
A video posted by the embassy showed long queues outside the ship as residents from across western Jamaica turned up for free medical consultations, diagnostic services and surgical procedures.
In its message, the embassy thanked Jamaicans for their “trust and friendship” and praised the ship’s medical personnel for their remarkable dedication throughout the humanitarian mission.
