Kevin Downswell reflects on 2025, ready to minister at One Love Jamaica Rebuild concert
Gospel artiste and minister, Kevin Downswell, in reflecting on 2025, described it as a year of creating new chapters.
He made the assertion in an interview with Observer Online on Friday.
“This year has been a year of new chapters. Launching my book Midnight to Victory- 90 day devotional, which was one of Amazon’s best sellers, has been huge for me, because it is ministry beyond the music. Seeing how many lives it has already touched will always be a highlight of this year,” said Downswell, who in October was presented with the Order of Distinction in the rank of Officer (OD) at the National Honours and Awards.
On Saturday evening, he will delight patrons with a spiritual performance at the One Love Jamaica Rebuild Concert in Sunrise, Florida. The event which takes place at the Faith Centre will see proceeds benefitting hurricane relief efforts.
Downswell said he is happy to be a part of the initiative to give back.
“Any opportunity to serve and bring hope to people who are hurting, I’m all in. So when I heard about the initiative, the first thing that came to my heart was, let’s do it, how can we help, how can we lift the spirits of our people,” Downswell disclosed.
Said Downswell, “You can expect worship that strengthens your faith and reminds you that God is still in control. I’m coming with songs that encourage and also celebrate the resilience of Jamaica. I want people to leave uplifted, lighter and reminded that there is still victory ahead and that Christ loves them.”
Asked if he had new music on the way, Downswell shared, “Yes, I have new music on the way. God has really been placing some fresh sounds and messages on my heart, so we are working toward releasing a new body of work that will speak to the season we’re in right now.”
His latest single Bless Me features PantaSon.
“It was inspired by Jacob wrestling with God, and making a bold declaration that he would not let God go, till God blessed him. The song has been an anthem to many the last two months since its release, and we created one of the biggest open verse for it, where almost all Gospel artiste in Jamaica and the Caribbean dropped a verse on it, something we have never seen before,” Downswell stated.
