Hah-R-Mony Entertainment joins private-sector recovery push after Hurricane Melissa
ST JAMES, Jamaica — Hah-R-Mony Entertainment Limited has bolstered the private sector’s recovery efforts as the island rushes to prepare for the fast-approaching winter tourist season in the aftermath of Hurricane Melissa.
With operations spanning some 21 hotels, many concentrated along the tourism-dependent northern coast, the company has deployed crews, trucks and heavy-duty machinery across Montego Bay to clear fallen trees, debris and blocked roadways.
The decisive move is aimed at speeding up the restoration of critical access routes and supporting Jamaica Public Service teams as they work to reinstate light poles and other essential infrastructure.
In a release, Senior Director at Hah-R-Mony Entertainment, Garth Ramsay, said the company recognises its responsibility as part of the backbone of Jamaica’s tourism product.
“We are more than entertainment. We are part of Jamaica’s critical economic infrastructure,” Ramsay said. “When the tourism sector stumbles, families feel the impact first. By lending our resources to clear routes and help utility teams get moving, we’re ensuring a faster, safer return to normal for visitors and residents. Tourism is the lifeblood that keeps communities, schools and families intact, and speed matters.”
For his part, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Ho-Chi-Min Castillo Rollfort said the company’s response reflects a broader vision of private-sector partnership and national resilience.
“This is the private sector acting as a force multiplier,” the CEO noted.
“Delays cost jobs and livelihoods. Our teams are out in the field because every hour counts. We are coordinating closely with public authorities to maintain safety standards and honour service commitments to our guests. The speed of the work today translates into stability for Jamaican families tomorrow,” he added.
Their efforts come as private stakeholders across St James and neighbouring parishes intensify clean-up operations, transforming high-level pledges into tangible action to restore confidence, infrastructure and readiness along key tourism corridors.
With the peak season just weeks away, industry leaders say the united push between private entities and public agencies is helping set the pace for a strong, swift rebound following the storm.
