Alaine working on new album, honing new talent
It has been 10 years since Alaine has released a full-length studio album. However, that is about to change, as the No Ordinary Love singer says, work is ongoing for a new project.
“For next year, there’s more music and more touring. Yes, the album is coming. I’m working on some good music and I’m really excited about it, just being myself and giving of my talent,” Alaine told the Jamaica Observer in a recent interview.
Her last album, Ten of Hearts, was released in 2015. Before that, Luv A Dub saw a Japan-only release in 2009, while her début album Sacrifice arrived in 2008.
Until the album is released Alaine is warming hearts with her latest single Summertime, a collaboration with Protoje, which was released in September via Indigg.Nation.Collective.
“My latest single is called Summertime, and it was produced by Protoje. I’m also in the process of recording with Daseca a song for the Jamaica bobsled team — who would’ve thought that the bobsled team would have risen to this pinnacle just at the time that we needed it to. I think we’re also rising in basketball as well. Our teams are representing our fighting spirit,” said Alaine.
For most of this year Alaine has been overseas touring.
“I have been on tour doing shows abroad. I did shows in Florida, The Bahamas, and I’m heading to Antigua, then Kenya and Africa in a couple of weeks. The truth is, music is the world. The music is always relevant and songs that I recorded 20 years ago are allowing me to tour. So I give thanks for that catalogue and I’m working on more,” Alaine shared.
For several seasons Alaine was a judge on the long-running television talent series
Digicel Rising Stars. Now she is working with new talent.
“I’m working with some very talented young people. When I do my shows I always give them their time, their space, and their shine. So that is very important for me as well,” Alaine disclosed.
