Amazon launches low-cost shopping app in Jamaica
KINGSTON, Jamaica – Amazon.com Inc has launched its dedicated low-price shopping application, Amazon Bazaar, in Jamaica, the company said on Monday, extending the platform to its 14th market.
The app, part of Amazon’s global “Haul” initiative for affordable goods, offers hundreds of thousands of products in fashion, homeware and lifestyle categories, with most items priced below J$1,600.
“Today, we’re excited to announce a new standalone shopping app, called Amazon Bazaar, which is now available in Jamaica,” an Amazon spokesperson said.
The company said the “Bazaar” name is used in select markets instead of “Haul” to better align with local linguistic and cultural preferences, though both offer the same ultra low-price shopping experience.
Shoppers can use existing Amazon accounts to access the platform, which includes customer reviews, star ratings and free returns within 15 days of receipt. Orders exceeding J$5,000 qualify for free delivery, while smaller orders incur a standard charge, with delivery typically within two weeks.
New customers will receive 50 per cent off their first order, Amazon said. The app also features interactive promotions such as social lucky draws.
Payment methods include internationally accepted Visa, Mastercard and American Express cards.
The Amazon Bazaar app is now available for iOS and Android in Hong Kong, the Philippines, Taiwan, Peru, Ecuador, Argentina, Costa Rica, the Dominican Republic, Nigeria, Kuwait, Qatar, Bahrain, Oman and Jamaica.
Amazon stated that all products on the platform undergo its compliance checks to ensure they meet safety regulations and company policies.
