Digicel to resume service disconnections Tuesday
KINGSTON, Jamaica — Telecommunications provider Digicel has announced it will resume normal billing processes and service disruptions for non-payment on Tuesday, December 9.
The company had paused all service disconnections following Hurricane Melissa, as part of relief efforts to ease the burden on customers.
In an email to subscribers, Digicel confirmed that this grace period will end on Tuesday.
Customers who experienced service interruptions during the hurricane will see credits applied to their accounts, visible on page two of their next bill under “Charges Waived or Written Off.” Bills due December 27 will reflect these adjustments.
However, the company warned that any outstanding balance from the November 27 bill, if unpaid by December 9, may result in interrupted service.
Digicel outlined several payment options, including:
- SWIFT PAY: A new service allowing anyone to pay a Digicel bill, with payments reflecting within 24 hours.
- MyDigicel App: Payments reflect within 24 hours.
- Online Banking: Through local banks, may take up to 72 hours to reflect.
- Third-Party Agencies: Including Paymaster, Bill Express, EVOLVE by SVL, and Prime Trust Cambio, with payments reflecting within 24 hours.
The company also noted that payment extensions are available by contacting Customer Care and arranging a “Promise-To-Pay” plan.
The move signals a return to standard operations as the country continues its recovery from Hurricane Melissa.
