Jamaica’s Zolotarova wins bronze at 2025 Bolivarian Games
Jamaican martial arts athlete Valentyna Zolotarova recently won a bronze medal in the 55kg kumite division at the 2025 Bolivarian Games in Lima, Peru.
After suffering a 15 to 17 defeat to Sofia Del Pilar Gomez Fuertes of Peru in the round robin, Zolotarova bounced back to defeat Luz Marlhin Roca of Bolivia 4 to 2 and draw with Hazel Sameidy Ramos Flores of El Salvador.
The athlete later defeated Llanka Soraya Valdiva Soto of Chile, 9 to 1, and was placed third overall in the division behind winner Sofia Del Pilar Gomez Fuertes of Peru and Barbara Alexandra Perez Silva of Venezuela in second place.
Zolotarova won Jamaica’s first women’s medal in karate back in 2022 after winning bronze medal in the women’s Under 55-kilogram category at the Commonwealth Karate Championships in Birmingham, England.
