Mavado homecoming concert postponed due to hurricane devastation
KINGSTON, Jamaica — Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Reggae Fest & Epic League Entertainment, CJ Milan, has announced the postponement of the much-anticipated “Reggae Fest: The Return of Mavado” concert, which was scheduled for December 27, 2025, citing the widespread devastation caused by Hurricane Melissa.
In a series of Instagram story posts, Milan said the decision followed her recent trip to Jamaica, where she witnessed first-hand the storm’s severe impact on families and communities. She explained that after delivering supplies, supporting affected households and listening to survivors describe their struggles, it became clear that hosting a major entertainment event at this time would be inappropriate.
“This isn’t a decision I take lightly,” Milan wrote. “The strength, the pain and the resilience I witnessed made one thing clear: this is a time for unity and recovery, not celebration.”
Milan emphasised that proceeding with the show would not reflect the love and responsibility she feels for Jamaica, the birthplace of her father and the cultural foundation of her career. She added that both she and dancehall star Mavado were united in prioritising the country’s recovery efforts.
“Every stage I’ve touched across the United States exists because of Jamaica, the culture, the artists, and the people who are the heartbeat of dancehall and reggae,” Milan shared.
No new date has yet been announced for the concert. According to Milan, all tickets have been refunded as of Thursday, December 4, 2025.
Milan assured fans that the focus, for now, remains on supporting Jamaicans as the island rebuilds in the aftermath of the hurricane.
