Mt Pleasant could face LA Galaxy in Champions Cup
KINGSTON, Jamaica — Caribbean Cup champions Mount Pleasant Academy could face Major League Soccer powerhouse Los Angeles Galaxy in the Round of 16 in the Concacaf Champions Cup in March 2026.
The former Jamaican Premier League champions were one of five clubs that earned a bye to the second round of the competition set to start in February, 2026 and will see 27 teams from the confederation taking part.
In Tuesday’s draw that was held in Miami the LA Galaxy were drawn to face Panamanian club Sporting San Miguelito in the first round in a home-and-away fixture with the winners, advancing to face Mount Pleasant FA in two games between March 10 and 19.
Twenty-two of the 27 clubs were drawn to play in the first round with the 11 winners on aggregate qualifying for the Round of 16, the second of five rounds that will end with the final to be played on May 30, 2026.
Mount Pleasant FA won their first Caribbean Cup after beating Universidad O&M FC of the Dominican Republic 3-2 on aggregate after a 2-2 draw in the second leg final played at the National Stadium on December 2.
