Nine-year-old mowed down in Mandeville by garbage truck
MANCHESTER, Jamaica — A nine-year-old girl died as a result of injuries she sustained after being mowed down by a garbage truck while on her way to school on Tuesday in Mandeville.
The child has been identified as Amara Moore, a grade four student at Villa Road Primary in Mandeville.

Preliminary reports are that shortly before 7:00 am the child left her home off Bonitto Crescent and was walking downhill when a garbage truck struck her.
The child’s body was reportedly dragged a few metres before the truck stopped.
School leaders, the police and politicians are among people who have gathered near the scene and the child’s home.

The garbage truck, which was being used to collect solid waste in the area, has been taken to the Mandeville examination depo for inspection.
