2025 still a bumper year — I-Octane
Dancehall artiste I-Octane has articulated that the year 2025 has been a fruitful one in music for him.
In an interview with the Jamaica Observer, the entertainer said that he reaped rewards for all of his hard work.
“Music is very, very successful for me this year. I released a new album — God & I — on the 25th of April, and from that album release it’s [been] doing well. It went #1 19 times, and it’s #1 currently on the
iTunes chart. I’ve never had an album go #1 in the iTunes chart that many times. Streaming has been doing well too,” he said on Sunday.
The artiste continued: “I also have a hit song off the album called Opportunist featuring Shane-O… big song all ‘bout di place. We’re also promoting a new song off the album named Walk With A Chip.”
I-Octane (given name Byomie Muir) is a part of the line-up for the Jamaica Strong Benefit Concert set for Friday, December 12 at the UBS Arena in New York, USA.
He explained to the Observer that authenticity and focus have been the ingredients to his consistency.
“I just want to be I-Octane; I don’t want to be any other artiste. I love every single artiste that has contributed to reggae and dancehall and I have learned a lot from other artistes, but it’s just one I-Octane, and I want to [continue] to contribute to the music and the world itself. My focus has allowed me to also appreciate other artistes, but from I walk into a room you’re going to feel the I-Octane presence,” he added.
Meanwhile, the singer and deejay has been lending a hand to hurricane relief efforts, particularly in St Elizabeth, from which comes the majority of his family.
He plans to establish himself as a philanthropist.
“The reason why I did not document it [donations so far] is because I am starting an official foundation that will continuously give back worldwide, and people all around the world can contribute to the foundation. The journey will be documented, and right throughout the year I can contribute, whether we have a hurricane or not,” he said.
As a new chapter dawns, I-Octane is sending best wishes to all his supporters globally.
“I just want to big up the fans overall, and big up to the fans who have been contributing to my music for years. Season’s greetings, blessed love, and thank you so much for all the love over the years,” he said.
