MoBay mayor to walk the runway at annual Jingle Mingle Fashion showcase
ST JAMES, Jamaica — Mayor of Montego Bay Councillor Richard Vernon is set to take part in this year’s Jingle Mingle Runway, where he will make a special appearance as one of the evening’s featured models.
The annual Jingle Mingle Runway, which first debuted at Margaritaville Blue Beat Ultra Lounge, has grown to become one of western Jamaica’s signature holiday fashion and networking events.
This year’s showcase will take center stage at Ashley’s HomeStore in Montego Bay on Thursday, December 19.
The 2025 staging will bring together members of corporate Montego Bay, influential community leaders, and rising creatives, all modeling locally designed pieces inspired by the life and legacy of the late Jimmy Cliff, whose contributions to rhythm, culture, and global Jamaican identity continue to influence generations.
The theme for this year’s event, “Rhythm and Culture,” pays tribute not only to Jimmy Cliff but also to the innovation coming from young Jamaican entrepreneurs.
The runway will highlight designers from across the island, showcasing fashion that reflects Jamaica’s artistic heritage, cultural storytelling, and modern creative energy.
A central support pillar of the event is the Young Entrepreneurs Business Network, which was founded in western Jamaica and has since expanded rapidly into other parts of the island, including Kingston, providing a platform for young business owners to network, collaborate, and mobilise resources for community and economic development.
“We are honoured to have the mayor join us this year,” said event organisers. “His participation demonstrates a strong commitment to local culture, creative industries, and the young entrepreneurs who continue to drive innovation across Montego Bay and beyond.”
