Herbert Morrison win six straight in ISSA Under-16 basketball
ST ANN, Jamaica — Herbert Morrison Technical made it six straight wins in the ISSA Rural Area Under-16 Zone B basketball competition after beating York Castle High 89-25 in a return round game played at Buckfield Oval in St Ann on Thursday.
The Herbert Morrison Under- 19 team also stayed unbeaten after a 65-10 win over Ocho Rios High, while York Castle beat Ocho Rios in the Under-19 section and York Castle also prevailed 73-37 over Holland High.
Michael Johnson (22 points) and Rafael Stephenson ( 20) combined for 42 points as the Herbert Morrison Under- 16 team shook off an early challenge to run out easy winners.
Marcodean Frater scored 14 points to lead York Castle.
York Castle rebounded to beat Holland High with Omar Campbell scoring 20 points, while Antwan Wint had a game high 27 points and 18 rebounds for the Trelawny school.
In the Under -16 section, Ryan Jurdine led the way with 20 points as Herbert Morrison Technical shut out Ocho Rios in the second half of their game.
Herbert Morrison led 21-1 after the first quarter, 33-10 at half time before outscoring the ‘home team’ 32-0 over the last two quarters.
Ocho Rios prevailed 53-38 over York Castle in their St Ann derby, despite Christian Andorn scoring a game high 17 points for York Castle with Matthew Smith scoring 16 points for Ocho Rios.
In a Zone A Under-16 game played on Thursday, Knox College beat Old Harbour High 30-23 with Javante Currie scoring 12 points for the winners.
