24 killed in road crashes in November – ITA
KINGSTON, Jamaica — The Island Traffic Authority (ITA) is reporting that 24 people were killed in 20 fatal crashes during the month of November.
The ITA said fatalities have remained the same when compared to November 2024 while fatal crashes decreased by nine per cent.
Motorcyclists accounted for 50 per cent or 12 fatalities during the month; drivers of public passenger vehicles accounted for 21 per cent oo five deaths; and pedestrians accounted for 17 per cent or four fatalities during November 2025.
Meanwhile, the ITA is reporting that 357 people have been killed in road crashes up to December 12. This resulted from 312 fatal crashes. Fatalities increased by three per cent when compared to prior year while fatal crashes are up five per cent.
Overall, motorcyclists account for 107 or 30 per cent of fatalities since the start of the year; private motor vehicle drivers account for sixty-nine or 19 per cent; pedestrians account for 66 or 18 per cent; private motor vehicle passengers account for 54 or 15 per cent; while pedal cyclists account for 22 or six per cent of fatalities since January 1. Fifteen pillion passengers were also killed, accounting for four per cent of fatalities this year.
The ITA said vulnerable road users comprising pedestrians, pedalcyclists, motorcyclists and pillion passengers, account for 59 per cent of all fatalities combined.
Males account for 85 per cent while females account for 15 per cent of fatalities since the start of the year.
