Police constable dies in vehicular collision
ST ELIZABETH, Jamaica — The Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF) has confirmed the death of a policeman following a motor vehicle collision in St Elizabeth on Saturday.
According to reports reaching the Observer Online, the incident occurred at approximately 10:15 am along the Goshen Main Road in Santa Cruz. The deceased, Constable E. Evans, who was attached to the Public Safety and Traffic Enforcement Branch (PSTEB), was travelling on a police-issued motorcycle when it collided with a Toyota Coaster bus.
Constable Evans sustained multiple injuries and was transported to the Mandeville Regional Hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries.
The driver of the bus has been identified, and investigations into the circumstances surrounding the collision are ongoing. The matter is being handled by personnel from the Black River Traffic Department.
The Police Federation and the JCF Welfare Department have been notified, and arrangements are being made to provide support to the family, colleagues, and loved ones of the fallen officer.
